Mariners vs Orioles Series Preview

felix hernandez marinersAfter unexpectedly winning two of three against the Braves in Atlanta, the Baltimore Orioles (25-53) will now return home to take on the Seattle Mariners (47-31) for a four-game series.

The Orioles have won four of their last seven contests as their bats appear to be heating up after scoring an average of six runs a game during that span. The Mariners have gone just 1-6 over their last seven games but were 12-3 in their first fifteen games in June.

Note: Cashner has allowed just six runs over his last sixteen innings combined over three starts. Hernandez owns a stout 3.13 ERA over 23 innings pitched through four starts in June.

Note: Cobb has gone 1-2 with a 6.08 ERA through four starts in June. Leblanc has posted a 4.64 ERA through four starts in June.

Dylan Bundy (6-7, 3.75 ERA)

Note: Bundy has gone 4-2 with a superb 2.98 ERA over his last seven starts, while striking out 53 over 48.1 innings. Leake has gone 4-1 in his last seven games and has a 2.17 ERA over 49.2 innings.

 

Players to Watch:

Manny Machado:  the Orioles right fielder continues to have a superb year as he’s batting 301 with 19 homers, 55 RBIs and 36 runs scored.
Nelson Cruz: The Mariners designated hitter is 10-for-16 with two homers, seven RBIs and six runs scored in the last four games.
Jean Segura: The speedy shortstop is hitting .334 for Seattle, with six home runs, 44 RBIs, 52 runs and 14 stolen bases this season.
