NASCAR – Chase for the Sprint Cup
The second leg of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, the Bad Boy Off Road 300, takes place at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday.
If you are looking for drivers that may have an edge performance wise this weekend look no further than those who have performed well on flat tracks such as Phoenix, Martinsville, Richmond, Pocono, Indianapolis and New Hampshire.
The first driver that comes to mind in that regard is Matt Kenseth. Not only has he performed well on flat tracks, but also he has won the last two races at New Hampshire (the 2015 Silvania 300 and the New Hampshire 301 on July 17).
Kenseth has performed very well on flat tracks so far. He’s had one win, two top five and five top 10 finishes on flat tracks this year and most importantly he’s been a top 10 finisher in six of his last seven races.
Kevin Harvick may be one of Kenseth’s biggest threats this weekend. The Californian has one win (Phoenix), four top five and six top 10 finishes on flat tracks. He also runs well in New Hampshire as proven by finishing in the top five in three of the last four races held at this track.
Kyle Busch is another driver to watch this weekend as he has finished in the top eight in six of the last seven races at the track, including four finishes in the top-two. This year on flat tracks Busch has two victories, four top five and six top 10 finishes.
Other drivers that could to do well in this week’s race are Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson.
After the first round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup Martin Truex leads in the standings with 2050 points and three victories, Brad Keselowski is one point behind with four wins and Kyle Busch has 2046 points and four wins. Denny Hamlin (three wins) and Joey Logano close the top five with 2045 and 2043 points respectively.
