We know how important a good running back should be in the Andy Reid picture and it seems that now Kansas City knows they have a combination of reliable running backs in their aspirations towards the playoffs.
Spencer Ware coming off the bench, just as Charcandrick West started the evening after the reception of 47 yards to help get the first touchdown for the Chiefs he was injured and heading for the dressing room. That’s when Spencer Ware emerged reminding many fans of the legendary Marcus Allen and not just by the number 32 he used. He showed a good combination of strength and speed that have made significant carries as he managed 52 yards and contribute with 2 touchdowns.
The Chiefs had help on the scoreboard by their defense. We could talk about the interception that Justin Houston got from Philip Rivers in an attempt to screen pass only to be taken into the end zone but let’s not forget that the first touchdown of the visitors came by Dontari Poe in a one-yard carry and jumping Walter Payton style.
It seems that Andy Reid remembered what the ’85 Chicago Bears did when they placed William Perry in the backfield and not just to block but to give him the ball and get the yards needed.
We can not believe that the Chargers played so terribly on an offense with Philip Rivers in control. Especially when we thought, that this team and their offense was getting better every year since the arrival of Mike McCoy as Head Coach. An inoperative offensive with rookie running back Melvin Gordon which was supposed to be productive since day one and that has not happened, an offensive line that had reinforcements and were still overpowered by the Chiefs front, and the wide receivers dropping any number of passes.
Mike McCoy in the bench, with nothing short of frustration on his face. He has not had the desired outcome since coming to San Diego in 2013 and with a team with a franchise quarterback such as Philip Rivers the results are still a 2 wins 8 losses record.
